At the end December 2021, a new team built from community members officially took over the Solarian project. As a new team, we made a commitment to finish off the roadmap items and some of the legacy items from the team before us, but we are now pleased to share a roadmap that is 100% ours… Roadmap 3.0!
While we had a lot of ideas being fleshed out, some of the main considerations for this Roadmap were how to create long term value for Solarians and how to position them for the future. With this in mind, we decided on 5 main initiatives for our Roadmap 3.0.
PREPARING FOR THE METAVERSE
It’s indisputable that metaverses are going to be big. No one knows which one it will be, or how it’s going to look, but we wanted to make sure that Solarian holders had the foundation to run around as their robots no matter which metaverse wins the race.
This is why we have commissioned an external 3D studio, Motion Miracles (our partner in Rumble Worlds), to generate 3D models of ALL 10,000 robots in our Solarian collection! These 3D models will be linked to each unique Solarian metadata (meaning that your NFTs will contain both the 2D and 3D assets), and will be rigged and ready for integration to the metaverse!
Due to the complexity of our 2D Solarians, we expect the studio to take about 3–4 months to fully complete this, but by the end of Q2 2022 we will be one of the few major collections in Solana to have both 2D AND 3D versions of our collection!
ADDING TO THE COLLECTION AND UTILIZING TITLES
The original Enforcer (affectionately nicknamed “James Pew”) was made by one of our community members, Cryptonic, and airdropped to holders in 2021 and is currently used as the RoboDAO logo. Expanding on his artwork, we commissioned him to create a new mini collection; the Enforcer Series. These are 10 animated robots that pay homage to the original Solarians, but have their own unique style and design.
We will be sharing the specifics of the full plan of how holders can claim their Enforcers at a later stage, but the general idea is that the first 9 new Enforcers will be claimable by those who hold specific Solarians, with each title getting its own unique Enforcer. After the claim round ends, a snapshot will be taken; those who own all 10 Enforcers (including the original James Pew) will be eligible to mint the final Enforcer.
And the best thing is that ALL eleven of these Enforcers will have an equivalent 3D model to display in all their glory in any NFT gallery or metaverse!
COMMUNITY-DRIVEN PROMO MATERIAL
Shareable content is at the heart of all communities, and memes are a large part of our modern culture, but its not always easy for everyone to edit photos or put together graphics to share. To tackle this, we wanted to create an easy way for our community to create Solarian specific content without the need for special skills or programs. One of our amazing community members, Arbvision, gave us a spark that grew into our next Roadmap 3.0 item, Canvas!
Canvas is a major expansion on our Changing Room tool and will allow the community to connect their wallets and easily create their own memes, comics and banners using their own Solarians. With advanced text editors, ability to insert any background image and custom canvas sizes, holders will be able to basically create any form of visual content that they can imagine!
TAKING THE EFFORT OUT OF RESEARCH
Alpha, alpha, alpha! On top of our usual whitelist offerings, we wanted to create value for the community by allowing them to vote on projects that they would like the team to evaluate based on our internal framework.
While these evaluations are by no means financial advice, alpha isn’t a zero sum game and these additional independent opinions could save our community time and effort when trying to make decisions about what to buy or mint, or perhaps help them to make more informed decisions around a project.
If this initiative is well-received, we will ramp up with more projects and potential website integrations and extra tooling…all accessible only to Solarian holders!
HAVING SOME FUN
With all these other larger undertakings, we wanted to do something smaller but fun in the form of creating the first Solarian dubstep song! This will be this team’s first formal foray into content creation and will be used for marketing videos and other materials….and for us to bop to as we gather or work!
We’ve spent some time thinking up the song concept, so expect some PEW PEW and Solarian references!
And that covers all the items on our new Roadmap 3.0! All of these items have potential for future expansion, and there are many things that can be built on top of these initiatives.
IN SUMMARY
Overall, by the end of Roadmap 3.0, we believe that we would have laid the foundation for Solarians to be one of the most built-out NFT projects with the widest range of features and value propositions for thriving in the long-term.
Our current core pillars of value for Solarians are:
- Historical significance — as the first on-chain generative NFT project on Solana
- One of the most complex 2D artwork on Solana — with our 2D animated pixelated robots, where even some of the backgrounds are animated.
- Customization Tools — A PFP tool that allows customization of our 2D Solarians to make better PFPs, and a Changing Room feature that allow Solarians to be equipped with super-cool, animated Solarians
- One of the most well-funded DAOs in Solana — RoboDAO has over 5,000 SOL of assets, with continued contributions from royalties and DigitalEyes marketplace fees.
With Roadmap 3.0, we strengthen these pillars and build new ones:
- High quality full-bodied 3D art
- Metaverse-ready — All our 3D Solarians will be rigged to be game-ready and easy to integrate with metaverses.
- AR-ready — something we can explore after Roadmap 3.0 once we have 3D Solarians
- Advanced Art Tools — Adding to the PFP and Changing Room tools, Canvas will tie everything together where you can fully customize your Solarians (whether its using your 2D/3D Solarian PFPs and/or equipping them with accessories) and create any type of static visual content (e.g. memes, comics, banners, etc.). If we do decide to explore AR post-Roadmap 3.0, imagine taking pictures of your 3D Solarians in real-life environments and using Canvas to create even more unique content.
- Lore & Content Creation — which will form the backbone of our Solarian story, and from which we can build all sorts of content. We are also producing our first dubstep theme song professionally which we can blast in our metaverses.
- Alpha — evaluation reports on community-voted projects and based on the team’s evaluation framework, distributed regularly to holders only.
Not to mention the completion of:
- Migration to a brand new website (still in progress!) that will act as the new home for our project and community.
- Entangler, which will ensure all Solarians can be listed on all marketplaces that the community wants, and stay safe when transacted on contracts..
- Enforcer series — one of the highest quality airdrops that will have both complex 2D and 3D versions that can be displayed in your NFT galleries and metaverses.
With all this combined with any other initiatives RoboDAO pursues, the future is truly glorious!
